1974–2017: From its establishment to the present day
A.N.E.TH. was founded in 1974, mainly by shareholders from Thasos, as a multi-shareholder Anonymous Shipping Company of Thasos. Its establishment aimed at better serving the island’s maritime transportation needs in an adequate manner and for the benefit of its residents.
From its founding to the present day, A.N.E.TH. has built, acquired, and operated its vessels, placing particular emphasis on safety and on providing high-quality services to the traveling public.
Today, it owns four relatively newly built vessels: the double-ended open-type passenger–vehicle ferries ‘THASOS I’, ‘THASOS II’, ‘THASOS III’, and the conventional passenger–vehicle ferry ‘AGIOS PANTELEIMON’, classed by R.I.NA.
“A.N.E.TH. employs over fifty staff members, who are primarily from Thasos and work either as seafarers on its vessels or as employees in the company’s administrative services.
A special tribute must be paid to the founders of A.N.E.TH., and particularly to its long-serving president, the late Nikolaos D. Charitopoulos, who played a leading role in the efforts of the people of Thasos to establish their own Shipping Company, which has since then and continues to make a decisive contribution to the island’s economic development.
